HAL Four Grotesk is an elegant yet reliable addition to the vast, undying sans-serif genre. Inspired by “Empire Gothic”, originally published in 1912 by Keystone Type Foundry (also cast by Miller & Richard as “Grotesque No. 4 Italic” and American Type Founders as “Times Gothic Italic”), these boldly authentic, italicised styles from a century ago laid the foundation for further developing HAL Four into a versatile, all-purpose neo-grotesque.
